Toasts/Vows/Poems

"There once was a girl from Nantucket..." If that's the way you are going to start your toast, wedding vow, or poem, then we implore you to read through this section. No really, please.

Without going too far with too many toasts proposed at your reception (you don't want your guests to suffer from arm strain or rotator cuff injuries from lifting their glasses too often!), here is a list of the many special people who can propose a special toast to you or to your family.

One of the ways that any couple can make their wedding ceremony feel unique and meaningful is to write and read their own vows. But what if you want to write your own wedding vows but never earned A’s in English class and aren’t sure how to put your thoughts down on paper? Not to worry. With a few simple steps, anyone can bring out the writer within and craft evocative vows in one’s own true voice.

Toasting has been around for centuries. But it wasn't until the 1700s that it was actually called "toasting." The term stems from the French custom of placing a piece of bread in the bottom of a glass to soak up any sediment. A good toaster would drink "down to the toast."
